The Anzar girls volleyball team lost their Division V quarterfinal match to Saint Thomas More in three games (21-25, 18-25, 25-27) on Saturday, and have been eliminated from the Central Coast Section Girls Volleyball Championships.
The No. 5 Hawks finish their season at 15-12 overall.
All-league player Erin Deleissegues led Anzar with 11 kills, 24 digs and five aces on the day. Setter Kerstin Tuning supplied her team with 26 assists, nine digs and a kill, while Alex Flores contributed nine kills, seven digs, one block and two aces.
Cristina Medina delivered a defensive effort with six digs.
Anzar head coach Chris Wardlaw could not be reached for comment at press time.
Anzar had played Saint Thomas More earlier this season at the Mount Madonna Invitational, and they lost in two tournament games (24-26, 13-25).
No. 4 Saint Thomas More improves to 30-7 on the year.
They advance to Thursday's semifinal round to play top-seeded St. Francis Central Coast Catholic (20-11) at St. Francis at 7:30 p.m.
St. Francis swept No. 8 Pacific Collegiate in the opening round 25-6, 25-16, 25-4.
In the other semifinal match, No. 2 Mount Madonna will play No. 3 Castilleja after they defeated seventh-seeded Highlands Christian in three games (25-4, 25-13, 25-14).
Castilleja, in their quarterfinal match, beat No. 6 Pinewood in three games as well (25-10, 25-16, 25-21).
The Division V championship final will be held on Saturday at Independence High School in San Jose.
