Thanks goodness Dems weren't in office
Dear Editor,
It was May 7 and May 8, 1945, when the war in Europe, which had been going on almost six years ended. Sir Winston Churchill spoke of V.E. day, noting there was still the war in the Pacific. He concluded his remarks with "Even if it is a hard struggle (in the Pacific) we (the British) will not be the ones who will fail."
The United States suffered an average of over 100,000 combat deaths a year (four years), the British almost as many. We are fortunate the Democrats were led by Presidents Roosevelt and Truman and not Pelosi, Reed, Ted Kennedy, Kerry, Murtha, Hillary Clinton or Obama. Otherwise, the British may have had to go it alone.
