A 21-year-old man from Gilroy entered the Hollister Drive-In Market on Sunday, according to police reports, with the intent of cashing a fraudulent check. Police responded to the scene, arrested the man, and booked him into the county jail.

Theft, Hickory Court
Police report that a theft took place from an unlocked vehicle at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night in the 400 block of Hickory Court. The reporting party stated to police that $100 in cash was taken from his vehicle.
Found Property, Line Street
A backpack was found and turned in to police in the 1300 block of Line Street.
Embezzlement, Plumtree Drive
A Hollister resident reported to police that he had lent his car to a friend for a certain amount of days, and that his friend had failed to return it on the agreed upon day. After a few additional days, the friend stopped returning calls and texts, so the victim contacted law enforcement. The crime is termed as embezzlement because the suspect did not initially steal the vehicle. Rather, the victim trusted the suspect with the car, and the suspect then failed to return it.
