On July 3, a 16-year-old male was arrested as a suspect for attempted murder.
At 12:31 a.m. June 11, two unknown suspects attacked an 18-year-old Gilroy man on Sixth Street at Dowdy Street. The suspects made statements to the victim that suggests they are gang members. The victim is not believed to be gang affiliated.
The victim was then forced to hand over his belongings through fear for his own life. The suspects struck the victim with a blunt object then fled from the area. The victim was then transported to a regional trauma center and his condition was classified as unstable. He has been released from the hospital, but is still receiving medical care for his injuries.
During the investigation, investigators identified a juvenile suspect who may have been involved with the crime. The juvenile was on probation and investigators conducted a probation search of his residence in Watsonville. Evidence was recovered as a result of the search.
On July 3, the suspect was arrested for attempted murder, robbery, possession of stolen property and gang enhancments. He was then booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Detention Facility.
