San Juan Bautista City Council members have hired a former Coalinga official as interim city manager while they seek a permanent replacement for the recently fired Jan McClintock.
Council member Priscilla Hill today confirmed they hired Stephen Julian as interim city manager at last week's meeting. Julian started as interim manager June 17, said Councilman Rick Edge.
Julian had been city manager of Coalinga before getting fired in April, and he has filed a claim against that municipality contending he was let go in retaliation for refusing to terminate the former police chief last summer, according to the Fresno Bee newspaper.
