Police blotter: 14-year-old claims multiple sexual assaults by mother's boyfriend
May 27, 2008
 By The Free Lance Staff

Sexual assault of a child

On Friday, a 14-year-old girl alleged that she had been sexually assaulted multiple times by her mother's boyfriend over the last six years. According to a police report, the victim alleged the man touched her inappropriately several times before and that eventually the abuse progressed into sexual intercourse.

No arrests have been made and the case has been forwarded to the Detective Don Pershall for further investigation.

The original police report listed the suspect's age at 21 years old, but Pershall said this age was a "typo." He said the man's age was closer to 30 years old but that he had not determined it exactly.

Battery with serious injury

At midnight Saturday police responded to a report of a fist fight at the corner of Suiter and Cullum streets. When police arrived they found a man with a cut on his face that later required nine stitches. According to witnesses, the fight occurred at a family gathering. The victim did not want to press criminal charges, and other witnesses were uncooperative, according to a police report. The case has been closed.

Child beating

A 34-year-old Hollister man was arrested Friday on suspicion of slapping his wife and pushing her to the floor while she was holding the couple's infant son. Police said the man also struck his 15-year-old son. Minor injuries to the victims were reported and the man was booked into San Benito County Jail.

Shooting of car

Sometime between 10 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday an unknown suspect is thought to have shot a hole in the rear window of a Geo Prism parked at 1097 Sally Road. No casings were found but the hole in the window matched typical bullet holes, police spokeswoman Rosie Betanio said. The case has been closed due to a lack of evidence.

Indecent exposure

A 28-year-old transient man was arrested at Hollister Supermarket on Sunday after supposedly exposing his penis to shoppers near the entryway of the store. According to a police report, after exposing himself the man walked out to the parking lot and began urinating. The man was booked into San Benito County Jail.

Burglaries

A burglary was reported Friday at Safeway after two unknown suspects apparently grabbed a 12-pack of Corona beer and ran out of the store. Police said they saw the suspects on the store's video recorder system but could not identify them.

Another burglary was reported on Monday, when a woman reported that an unknown person stole several items from her car parked at 561 Recht St. According the report the items taken include a CD/DVD player and tap dancing shoes, total value of $1,400.
