Business briefs: Coast reports third quarter results

Coast Distribution System, Inc. recently reported its operating results for the third quarter and nine months ended Sept. 30.
Coast, a supplier of aftermarket replacement parts, accessories and supplies for the recreational vehicle, marine and outdoor recreation industries, reported a net loss of $290,000, or $.07 per diluted share, on net sales of $34.7 million for the third quarter of 2008. For the same period of 2007, Coast reported net earnings of $834,000, or $.18 per diluted share, on net sales of $43.2 million. In the nine months, Coast generated net earnings of $421,000, or $.09 per diluted share, on net sales of $115.4 million, as compared to net earnings of $1,707,000, or $.38 per diluted share, on net sales of $137.6 million in the same nine months of 2007.
Coldwell Banker raises funds
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the South Bay residential real estate services company, has announced that it has raised more than $191,000 for Habitat for Humanity, the non-profit organization that helps low-income families build their own homes.
The donation was the result of an eight-week community-wide raffle held throughout Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's 63 Northern California offices. Entitled "Coldwell Banker's BIGGIVE," this year's campaign was the tenth annual fundraiser by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage for Habitat for Humanity. The Gilroy office raised $10,050.
Rotary charitable grant
Rotary Club of Morgan Hill has announced that Nov. 30 is the deadline for organizations to apply for a charitable grant to help fund local philanthropic projects or programs.
Requests should focus on projects or programs that benefit youth, seniors or education within the geographic boundaries of the Morgan Hill Unified School District.
Any organization wishing to be considered for a Rotary Club of Morgan Hill Charitable Giving Grant for the 2008-09 Rotary year can obtain an application and complete guidelines on the club's Web site at www.morganhillrotary.com in the "Community Grants" menu.
